I actually like the messianic imagery - and Rusty uses it a lot in his work. Actually, his recurrent theme is that people worship people - and this is made pretty explicit in this episode, with the whole world worshipping the Doctor and bringing him back to life.

Okay, Dobby!Doctor and the floating angel version of our Lonely God were cheesey in the extreme - but given all the great character stuff in this trilogy, I am willing to forgive those two moments.

And, yes, that two-part Dalek episode this season was TERRIBLE. Easily the worst multipart story during RTD's tenure - since I found it really hard to care about it at all.
