Well, I put a cross in a box yesterday, although my heart wasn't really in it. It's sad when you're voting not so much for something you believe in as for the thing you dislike least.

My constituency is - and has remained - true blue anyway with the incumbent's share of the vote increasing by almost 9%. While I don't believe that the outcome - a hung parliament - is in the country's best interest, I do believe that it has, at least, got the message across that people are fed up and want something different. 'The people' however, in many cases, weren't prepared to demonstrate that conviction by voting anything other than Labour or Conservative, so what we're going to get is a total mess for a few months until another election has to be called and we have to go through the process all over again.

For now, we've got to sit back and watch the pie-fight between Brown and Cameron as to who's going to be the next PM. I understand the rules - that in a case like this, the current incumbent has first divs - but I don't see how, when (at the time of writing) his party has won fewer seats than the other lot, it is going to be viable for him to carry on. And if he does, I reckon it won't be long before there's a serious leadership challenge.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not a fan of Cameron's either.
