More hotness...

The battle of teh hawt is still raging among the DFGs, and after my post yesterday, I got to thinking about some of the other hot men I enjoy looking at, but who wouldn't have been termed "hot". Rather, they'd have been called "handsome" or described as "matinee-idols" and the like - because they're "old time" film stars. Old films are another thing I geek out over, in case you hadn't noticed!

Men like Cary Grant -

Possibly the most urbane of the truly great movie stars, and probably my favourite of all of them. He was handsome and charming and suave - but he also had a great gift for comedy. The Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday, Holiday and Bringing up Baby are some of my favourite films. He was also one of those men who aged incredibly well, and continued playing romantic leads until well into his 60s.

Errol Flynn

Such a bad boy, yet so bloody gorgeous. He could swash a buckle like nobody else!

Gregory Peck

Another one who aged really well. Roman Holiday is another favourite of mine - and how lovely is Audrey Hepburn in it?

Can't forget To Kill a Mockingbird

James (Jimmy) Stewart

,

Maybe not as pretty as Grant, but always watchable and wonderful!

Going back a few more years - Robert Donat

Goodbye, Mr Chips *sniff*

Ronald Coleman

I remember being reduced to tears at the end of A Tale of Two Cities

Those are just a few of my favourites, but I had to stop somewhere or I'd be here all night!

They really don't make 'em like that any more.

Definitely. I love that both of them had their "good guy" personas twisted somewhat in the films they made with Hitchcock, too.

There were a load I didn't mention - Gable and Bogey for example - who I watch for reasons other than their looks ;)

I think this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Indeed! And Claude Rains should probably be on that second list!

I myself have a very soft spot for Joel McCrea. And Herbert Marshall. Pretty boys in black-and-white...

I confess, I've not seen much of Herbert Marshall, although I do know of him.

There is much pretty to be had in any era, I think!
