You're entitled to your opinion, of course... but I personally think it does add to the story. It's not like they just have a roll in the hay between meetings without any apparent reason. There's a progression which, I feel, Caz writes to completion and sometimes one of the steps on the way is smut (which some of us quite enjoy, hence our reading stories labeled NC-17).
