Mar. 6th, 2009 10:50 pmI managed to catch up with the last couple of episodes of 24 the other day - I think we're a week behind the US here.

He's baaaaack!
Jan. 12th, 2009 11:00 pmYep, Jack's done it again. Sucked me into another season of 24.
And I have to say, Kiefer cleans up niiiiice :-) Methinks I like watching Jack kick ass in a suit!
( little spoilers under here )

Jack's back (almost!)
Jan. 2nd, 2009 05:48 pmI finally got around to watching 24 - Redemption earlier on. It was on a few weeks ago, but this is the first chance I'd had - Mr Caz isn't really a fan so I waited until he was going to be out of the house for a few hours :)
I don't know what the general reaction was, but I liked it overall. In fact, I think I prefer that format - a single story taking place over a couple of hours "real time". It was certainly easier to follow!
The new series starts here next weekend, I think. I've said for the last couple of years that I probably wouldn't be watching; fabulous as Jack is, the stories have gotten waaaay too silly - not that they weren't silly to start with, but they've gotten even more preposterous the last couple of seasons.
But I usually end up watching - Jack has a way of drawing me back in; so I imagine that's my Sunday nights sorted for the next 24 weeks!

So… I had a bit of a crappy afternoon. Well, fraught actually. I got home from school to discover that my PC was doing strange things, and spent about four hours fiddling about with it, copying files, moving files, defragmenting drives etc. Such a waste of time when I had loads of other things to do instead.
And it makes me cranky and panicky and I hate it.
But I’m the type of person who just has to fix things when they go wrong – I can’t leave something and figure it out later, I have to do it right away, or it eats away at me and I can’t concentrate on anything else until it’s done. So in the long run, it’s best to get fixing. But it still pisses me off.
Otherwise, things are going okay, more or less. I’m still very busy work-wise, but I’m settling in at the new school okay. I feel comfortable there and one of the classes that was a pain to start with is beginning to settle a bit. Still far from “good” but better than it was.
( teh Jack )
I’m really enjoying Ugly Betty, although I can’t help wondering how many times Betty can save the day and haul Daniel’s ass out of the shit. But I love the swipes at the fashion industry, and it’s funny – even hubby’s hooked, which is always a good sign! I’m already behind with Desperate Housewives. I’ve seen the first three episodes of S3, but missed the fourth – I got it from Channel 4’s new “on demand” service, but haven’t had time to watch it yet. And I have the following episode on the PC – I must try to watch before Wednesday otherwise I’ll be three weeks behind and I’ll never catch up. That’s always the problem. I can record stuff, but finding the time to actually watch it is nigh on impossible – which is why I record very little TV. I know “timeshifting” is the thing these days – recording to watch at your leisure (and screening out the ads!) but if I tried that, I wouldn’t actually watch anything! And the new series of CSI starts here tomorrow (I’m still catching up with the end of the last season!), so I’ll try to catch that. I know, I know, another example of veg-out TV, but it requires very little thought so I can watch and work at the same time!
Because of all the pissing about with the PC, I haven’t gotten to watch this week’s Studio 60 yet – so thoughts on that later or tomorrow.

Well, another 24 hours over with...
Jul. 2nd, 2006 10:06 pmSo, Jack saves the world again - and is it my imagination or was the bodycount even higher this series than the last? There was certainly lots of "hard bastard" Jack this time around - killing in cold blood as well as in self defense. And clearly, it doesn't really pay to be a friend of his - witness what happened to Tony and Michelle! I'm amazed Chloe made it to the end - but I'm glad - her snarkiness and general "don't fuck with me" attitude are fabulous.
It's all highly unbelieveable, and hugely entertaining. I thought the second and third seasons weren't all that great, but the last two have been fab. I gather there's another one on the way - which is good, but I have to wonder what else they can possibly find for Jack to do -once he's escaped from his latest predicament, of course!
Anyway, Jack gets the bad guys, snaps a guy's neck with his thighs (!) and then has to go after that weasel, Logan. Gotta hand it to the long suffering Martha, who I initially thought was a bit of a waste of space, but who I've really come to like over the weeks. Given the task of delaying Logan's departure on Marine One in the last ep, giving time to Jack to get on board, she has to ... use her feminine wiles to distract him. Poor woman! All I'm sayin' is that we're talking minutes here, OK? (Poor woman, again! *g*) - but boy, did she get her own back in the end!
Crappiest line of the finale goes to Audrey, though - "Jack... when I heard you kidnapped the president, I..." *snort*! So the music swells, the snogging commences, Jack goes off to take a phonecall from Kim... but, oh dear, gets the crap kicked out of him by a bunch of balaclava clad chinese guys!
Oh - what happened to Romano, by the way?
So, this begs the question - what am I going toget addicted to watch now? Doctor Who finishes next week, West Wing has finished (although we've got 5 episodes to go, here) - and I've lost track of Lost, House, WAT, CSI and Desperate Housewives this year (and I gave up on ER after Carter left!) because I've been so busy with work. I hear good things about the new Battlestar Galactica (and sadly, I'm old enough to remember the original series back in the early 80s!), S2 of which has just started on Sky One - but I didn't see the first series, and I'm one of those who has to see all or nothing! Hopefully, it'll air on one of the terrestrial channels soon and I can catch up. I'll have to rent some DVDs over the summer, maybe, although it's a bit early for most of these shows to be out. I need to catch up with the final third of the first series of Lost, but we're on S2 of House and DH, and those DVDs won't be out for a while, I think.
I'll have to find something to tide me over until Studio 60 starts in the Autumn.
Suggestions, anyone? :)
