caz963: (Much Ado 3)
Despite the almost continuous rain, [livejournal.com profile] hooloovoo_42 and I had an enjoyable day out in London yesterday. Since our days out consist almost entirely of what I can only liken to a pub crawl, although we substitute "Starbucks" for "pub" - and talking for hours, we didn't do anything exciting, but given that between us, we've got a couple of gammy legs and two bad backs, I think the fact that we actually manage to get anywhere at all is cause for celebration!

More Ado... )
caz963: (Much Ado 2)
Thanks to Ms Tate and Mr Tennant, I have a huge, stupid grin on my face for the first time in days.

If you do nothing else today, listen to their version of We Go Together from the Much Ado soundtrack (it's on iTunes now). I defy you to keep a straight face :-)
caz963: (Much Ado 2)
Hey - that rhymes!

I'm fortunate enough to be going to see Much Ado a few times over the summer, but I went for the first time on Saturday night and had one of the best evenings out that I've had in a long time. Of course that was, in large part due to the delightful company afforded by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] canterlevi, but I think that David Tennant and Catherine Tate may have had a hand in it, too :P

Yesterday was humid and rather overcast, but in any case, I headed off to London to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] canterlevi to join her on the first stage of her "operation Fangirl" (!) trip. We nattered a fair bit (surprising, I know!) and then traipsed around Tate Modern, where I duly took the piss out of several installations and pieces of so-called sculpture. I'm such a philistine, but really, what else do you call a piece of "art" that is essentially an irregular octagonal piece of white paper stuck onto a pale grey wall other than I'm sorry - you've missed a bit?!

I tend to prefer paintings.

and then... )

If anybody wants me, I'll be that puddle of goo on the carpet...

I seem to have spent much of today looking for things. Not many things, it's true, but I am absolutely anal about knowing Where Things Are. It's horrible sometimes. Kids have toys with lots of bits to them - jigsaw puzzles, dolls' outfits and the like - and I have to hunt like mad for missing bits before I can put them away!

Today, I've been looking for a piece of sheet music that I think would be a good song for Cazlet #1 to learn. I know I've got it but I've looked everywhere I can think of and it's not around. It used to be on the keyboard because Cazlet #2 used to like singing it and I'd (attempt to) accompany her - but it's not there now. (Mr Caz tidies up and I never know what he does with things!) I've looked in the folder I keep my sheet music in - nope. In/on my desk, in the kitchen, on the bookshelves - also nope. And it's driving me bonkers. I can buy it again for just over two quid, but that's not the point!

Grrr.

On the other hand, this icon makes me very happy :-) As do the promo pictures it's made from. It's about time there was more Tennant/Tate awesomeness in the world :-)

Time for a picspam! This didn't start out as a "birthday" picspam because I've had it on the go for a while but... er, time kinda ran away with me and I couldn't get my arse into gear to finish it. And as I won't be around on Monday to post it, it's still not technically a birthday picspam. But is anyone going to quibble about that when there's so much pretty on display?

Thought not.

I admit, it took me a while to come up with a theme for this one. I could just have posted lots of random sexiness, but then I'd have been here all week, so in the end I came up with this. One of the things that always comes at or near the top of the list when I’m considering what I find attractive about a bloke is “a nice smile”.

Well, obvious connection is obvious ;-) Many’s the time that thousand-watt-grin has brightened up a crappy day, so here, in one handy helping is probably the world’s greatest pick-me-up.

And just for the hell of it, and because I might just be the teeniest bit obsessed with his bottom lip, there are some pics in here to which my initial reaction is pretty much always – MOUTH.

So without further ado, I present to you (a selection of) The Many Smiles, Smirks, Grins and Pouts of David Tennant.

WARNING: Prolonged staring at this picspam could be dangerous to your ... oh, who the hell cares?! )

I always have the feeling that I should Be Doing Something when I'm on school holidays. I managed to get the bulk of my planning done before the end of term, I finished my marking earlier in the week and all I've got left are a few odds and sods. The girls are at my mum's so Mr Caz and I have been doing stuff we've been meaning to do for ages - he's ripped out the bathroom carpet and put down tiles instead, we've been out and bought some odds and ends, got some dry cleaning done, took my watch to the repairers...

For the last couple of hours I've been sitting here wasting time on teh intertubez. I don't do tumblr (and tbh, have no idea what it is really!) but I stumbled across a link to something there which amused me and then wasted even more time by following other links... you know how it is.

There's a comm (I think) called Time and Relative Dimensions in Space which has some excellent DW related posts. I don't know what the reposting etiquette is, but here's some of the things I found to pass the time. I hope crediting that particular tumblr is sufficient - if I've done it wrong, please let me know and I'll correct it.

little things ... )

It was another bright day (mostly) today, but it's still a bit chilly out. I'd already designated today "work day", so I spent most of the afternoon inputting marks onto the school's data system which I can access from here. Mind you, it's not just a case of putting in a number. Nope, I had to write a comment for each pupil as well, along the lines of what we used to do for end of year reports. Fortunately, we don't have to do that every half term, but as the system has only been up and running since last term and last time, I did just put numbers in, I thought I should show willing this time and do a bit more.

But the best laid plans... )
In other news - DW spoilers abound, but I'm not reading all of them. (I haven't even got round to reading the RT yet!) It's reached the point actually where there's not a lot of new info filtering through, and let's face it, we all know damn well that SM is keeping his cards close to his chest and that the DW team are generally pretty tight lipped about the really big stuff. So while I'm intrigued, I'm (at the moment) quite happy to wait to find out what the hell is going on. Whether I'll still be saying that at 7pm on the 23rd remains to be seen. Btw - is part 2 going out on the Sunday? I assumed it was, for some reason, but haven't seen a confirmation. As [livejournal.com profile] crossoverman indicates in comments, it's entirely possible (not to mention likely) that I've dreamed that one up.

spoilery pic under here )

And in a spectactular scheduling balls-up, Auntie is presenting us with two helpings of DT on the same day at the same time. Grrrrr... Thank gawd for the iPlayer.
caz963: (DT heart)
If this is true (and makes the final cut) I'm not going to survive looking at the publicity photos, let alone the actual film!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] develish1 for the link.

... into a not so crappy one.

First of all - this )

And secondly - To the Death is out a couple of weeks early!

I've pretty much mainlined all of Big Finish's "new" Eighth Doctor Adventures over the last few weeks, and I listened to Lucie Miller last night. I was Mrs Grumpypants today, thinking I'd have a couple of weeks to wait for the finale, but no - it's out today. Squee!

I've been writing a (long) post about the fact that I've finally got around to listening to some of BF's stuff. I've been meaning to get to it for a couple of years, and I'm very glad I finally have. I've only scratched the surface of what they do, as my listening so far has (mostly) been confined to the Eight and Lucie stories, but once I've finished with those, I've got a long list of other things I want to listen to.

Recommendations always appreciated!

caz963: (Tennant's gorgeous arse)
- has made my day :-)

I know, I know. Little things please little minds...

But look at those dimples!

(Pic snagged from DT on Twitter)

And seriously - Comic Relief has missed a trick. Given the number of women (I assume they were women!) who had emailed in promising to donate £X in exchange for a wink (and bless him, the boy did 'em proud and got in some tongue action as well!) they could make a bloody fortune by just sticking David Tennant in front of a camera for a couple of hours and getting him to take requests!
caz963: (Ten leaves WoM)
Things like this tend to happen when I'm at home ill, because I get more time to think than normal. So I'm sure you'll be glad to know that I'm on the mend and will be returning to work shortly!

I read a blog post the other day (sorry, but I can’t remember where it was), the subject of which was Ten things we love about Russell T Davies’ Doctor Who.

And it reminded me that I’ve been meaning to do something similar for ages. Though he left Doctor Who more than a year ago, there’s no denying that RTD left his mark on British telly in more ways than one – although DW is, of course, the best known and biggest dent!

But there are a couple of non-DW things I wanted to mention because they made a real impression on me, so they're in here as well.

I struggled with putting these in order – and decided in the end that it’s impossible. So without further ado – and in no particular order –

Ten Things For Which I Will Always be Grateful to Russell T Davies.

lots of fannish rambling under the cut )

So the redoubtable Mr Tennant is now recording a musical for Radio 3. I'm not sure whether I'm surprised or not. I remember him mentioning the idea back in October on the Graham Norton show - although it was a bit of a throwaway comment. Having said that though, I'm learning that with him, even the most throwaway of comments is likely to be a pretty good indicator that something's going to happen, because he never gives away much about future projects unless they're pretty much sewn up.

I admit, my first thoughts went something like this -

  • Yay! Murray Gold!

  • Kafka- The Musical??!

  • Giant insects

  • David... ? Oh well, he never can sit still, so I suppose he had to find something to fill the time before he has to start with the nappy changing.

I'm not sure whether to be surprised or not. I mean, he can obviously carry a tune and he's not tone deaf, but as to whether he can actually sing? If, indeed, it's a singing role. It might not be, I suppose. And he's not stupid. He isn't going to do something like this and fall flat on his face, so either the skinny scottish bloke is even more talented than we all realised and singing is another one to cross off the "is there anything he can't do?" list, or he's going to pull a sexy-Rexy and do a kind of on-pitch speaking thing.

I wonder what he'll be up to next week ? ;-)
