He's still sex on a stick, but it has to be said that it's pretty cheesy. I'm hoping that the film is going to be a bit of a send up that doesn't take itself too seriously.
He looks fantastic (to me at least) - except... it kind of looks like he had to duck to stay in the picture - like if he hadn't leaned forward just a bit it would have cut off his head. That's what gives that slightly odd look.
The eyebrow is pretty deadly all on its own! But I'm with you - I prefer this look, too. And fortunately, David has had plenty of practice in trotting out cheesy lines and making them sound believable :-)
Hehehe! And that's a good point, because there's no way I'm going to get to see it otherwise.
Is 2nd Sept the UK opening? I thought it was later than that. But yes, if it's open, we should round out our fangirly expedition with BAMF 3D Tennant!!
I am totally looking forward to this. One guess why. (Hint: I don't like horror and find vampires boring.)
This poster gives the impression that DT is the main character. Makes me think his name and image are probably going to be pushed way more to promote it in the UK, than they will be here. Understandable (since no one knows him in America except us geeks), but disappointing if I'm right, since I really don't give a crap about anyone else in the movie.
I'm not especially bovvered about vampire/horror - I can take it or leave it and it's certainly not the sort of film I'd usually go to see.
I think I've read that David doesn't really appear until about half-way through the film, so he's definitely playing a supporting character. But also based on what I've read, he's far and away the best thing in the entire film - which will come as no surprise to most of us because we already know how awesome he is. There were even rumours flying around that there was a sequel in the pipeline in which he would be the star, but I don't know how true they were.
I see so many comments to posts and on Twitter flying around saying "I'm only going to see this movie because David Tennant is in it" - hopefully, TPTB at Dreamworks are aware of this and getting an inkling of his popularity in another major market. I was only wondering the other day if they will recut trailers for the UK which focus on Farrell and DT, because nobody here really knows who the other stars are (I don't think).
I said to someone a while ago, before I'd really heard anything much about the film from people who'd seen it, that I had the idea that this could well be David's breakthrough in the US. I adore him and I want him to do what he wants to do - but I hope that won't mean he disappears completely from the UK for years. Like I've said before, you lot have nicked Hugh Laurie - you can't have David as well!!
Frankly, I don't really see him moving over here, in any event. Maybe coming over to do the occasional movie or TV show, plus publicity, but as for anything permanent, I doubt you have anything to worry about.
(There was that aborted attempt at a US TV series a while back, so I guess he did have some Hollywood aspirations at that time, and it's possible he still does, but his situation has changed since then. So who knows?)
well I'm a fan of the original film too, so I was expecting a certain amount of cheese, lol
and in my teens I had a thing for quite a few of the New Romantics bands, so guyliner has never been a problem for me, I think it's rather hot actually
and that really does give away rather a lot about my age doesn't it? lol

Date: 2011-06-28 07:19 pm (UTC)I quite like it. Although it does cause a small crash in my head with the teenage obsession with black clothing and too much eye liner.

I'm not even sure if this movie will make it into the cinemas round here. :(
