First of all -

And secondly - To the Death is out a couple of weeks early!

I've pretty much mainlined all of Big Finish's "new" Eighth Doctor Adventures over the last few weeks, and I listened to Lucie Miller last night. I was Mrs Grumpypants today, thinking I'd have a couple of weeks to wait for the finale, but no - it's out today. Squee!

I've been writing a (long) post about the fact that I've finally got around to listening to some of BF's stuff. I've been meaning to get to it for a couple of years, and I'm very glad I finally have. I've only scratched the surface of what they do, as my listening so far has (mostly) been confined to the Eight and Lucie stories, but once I've finished with those, I've got a long list of other things I want to listen to.

Recommendations always appreciated!

I am so behind with Big Finish it's unbelievable but I love their stuff. I used to listen to the radio professionally and was a bit doubtful about quality but someone I know recommended them and I've been blown away by how good they are.

I've been listening to the early stories and would particularly recommend "Chimes at Midnight", which is Eight and Charlie; the Six and Evelyn stories, particularly the first one "The Marian Conspiracy", which is a straight historical, and "Jubilee", which is the story that "Dalek" is very loosely based on. I also really like Five, Peri and Erimem because Erimem is such an unusual companion with her own view on the world. One day I'll catch up with Eight and Lucie...

Eight and Lucie are fabulous. If I ever finish my BF post, it'll say that I did start listening to Eight and Charley - but I got sidetracked when, for some reason or other, I listened to a BF podcast which was an EDA retrospective. I liked the sound of the format and of Lucie and so I started listening and got hooked straight away. Seriously, you should check them out, because they're really good on the whole. The whole of the fourth series is bloody good.

I've listened to a couple of other stories, too here and there, but not many. Six and Seven are a bit of a blank for me, because I never really watched them on telly. I seem to remember they came around the time the BBC moved the show from Saturdays to weeknights, and I wasn't able to watch regularly. I'll give them a go, though, because I gather that Six is much better in audio than he was on the telly!

That picture is gobsmackingly gorgeous. And I love how it's an encapsulation of the roles they used to play (he's smitten, she's not bovvered) and the ones that they''re about to play :-)

The thing is, it's a combination of talents and personalities I'd never have thought of - not in a million years.

There are quite a few reasons to be grateful to RTD - but even there weren't any others, I'd certainly be indebted to him for this one :-)

I think they have a similar relationship to the one that Ten and Donna had - they adore each other (as Rusty says - "big time")... and I do think he's a little bit - well perhaps not smitten romantically - just... whatever the platonic equivalent is!

Or as DT, himself once put it - he's Catherine's bitch. ;-)
