*rolls eyes*
I've watched 24 since it started, so I know what I'm getting. I know it's renowned for its unbelieveable plot twists etc. but that's okay - my tongue's in my cheek and in general, although it's hokum, I enjoy it for what it is. I watch it on a Sunday night - after the WW repeat, so I really am going from the sublime to the ridiculous. It's the last programme of the weekend for me, because then I usually go upstairs to get my stuff ready for work on Monday, so I'm kind of winding down - 24 doesn't require a huge amount of brain-power so I'm usually doing something else whilst it's on.
Okay, so that's partly why I watch it. But really, this episode? I knew this was coming, but still... Karen wants to bring Wayne out of his coma because the VP is looking to start World War Three. Good reason. But we get all the stuff about how it could kill him, blah, blah... all the medical machines beeping furiously... and then in the last scene, he's sitting up in bed on the phone to the Veep saying he's going to resume his duties.
Far-fetched, even for this show. (And don't get me started about the sudden appearance of "Rain Man"!)
Oh, and what is it with these power-crazed and nefarious VPs? Logan was shifty when he was VP and even shiftier as Prez. And now this latest one is staging a coup. It makes you wonder about the judgement of the guys who get the top job, doesn't it? I mean, Hoynes was a bit slippery, and, it turned out, had trouble keeping it zipped, but I don't think he was that much of a shit! :)
How many hours are left? I'm thinking it must be about 10 or so, and I really don't know how they're going to string it out that far.
Quotes of the night though go to Jed and Toby.

Date: 2007-04-08 11:14 pm (UTC)Oh God - I feel your pain! That's exactly the type of "homey" drama I can't stand.

I don't know how much longer I'm going to stick with it actually. Like I said, it's "end of the week" TV for me, and I'm usually drifing in and out. But it's starting to be mostly out!

Date: 2007-04-09 12:57 pm (UTC)Earlier in the season, I was enjoying watching '24' the way one enjoys reading purposeful 'badfic'--it's utterly ridiculous but funny because it's still toeing the line. But now'24; seems to have gone barreling over that line and right into the state of 'You've got to be Sh%&!ing Me'.
Essentially, I'm drifting out more often than not as well. *sigh* I need to find some other TV shows to watch; my list of acceptable shows has become rather threadbare in recent weeks...

Date: 2007-04-09 02:23 pm (UTC)I'm trying to find time to watch BSG (still!) and I've just started watching "Jericho" - it's showing over here but it clashes with something else, so I've started downloading it. I've only seen the first couple of episodes but it's okay so far. There are other bits and pieces I see advertised and think "must try to catch that", but invariably, I'm doing something else. I don't record a lot because I know I won't get around to watching it!
