I managed to catch up with the last couple of episodes of 24 the other day - I think we're a week behind the US here.

I have to say that I'm rather enjoying this season - it's defintely better than last, and I think it works to have a sort of "break", in that one story is 'resolved' because in past seasons, the writers have definitely had to go a bit overboard on the padding at times. I'm also liking the way that Jack's methods are being held up to scrutiny - okay, so he's the hero, he's saving the world from certain dooooom and does what's 'necessary' without (as far as we know) thinking about the consequences, but whereas in earlier seasons, we were kinda with him on that, cheering him on, now, I find myself almost wincing at some of the decisions he's making. And that's making it all more interesting - Renee holds her own and holds up a mirror. Of course we know that Jack isn't all cold-hearted bastard, although you do have to wonder about a guy who's able to shove ethics to one side so easily. But then saving the world's a dirty job, and someone's gotta do it! *g*

What else have I watched? ... Not much this week, really. I haven't watched last week's Dollhouse, yet, so I'll have to catch up with that. I've been working my way through the first season of Life (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] hooloovoo_42), which I'm enjoying. At first glance, it's a fairly standard cop drama, but several things put it on a level above that - Damien Lewis; the chemistry between his character and that of his partner; Adam Arkin; and it's quirky.

I saw this week's ER, which must have been the Christmas one or something - the one where wossername, Angela Bassett, and Morris are snowed in at some conference somewhere. I thought maybe she was going to wow them all with a few Tina Turner numbers ;-) But oh dear, yet another major character experiences a major - and I mean major tragedy. It's enough to put anyone off working in a hospital for life!
