RIP John Spencer
Dec. 17th, 2005 08:32 pmJust had to say, along with so many others who are posting here and elsewhere how sad I feel at this dreadful news. I find myself getting tearful reading so many wonderful tributes, quotes and poems - which is so unlike me. This was a man I never met, but whose portrayal of a fictional character kept me enthralled week after week, and I guess it's a testament to his ability and to his body of work on TWW that many are asking if the show can go on without him. This was likely to be the last season anyway, and there are apparently a couple of episodes in the can which he completed (including the next one, due to be shown in Jan). I hope they carry on to the end of the season and give Leo McGarry a fitting send off - and can I just say that, for all the times TWW fans have railed at tptb and John Wells, I certainly wouldn't like to be in their shoes right now, trying to work out what to do once the dust settles.
I've seen John in other things, too, but to me, he will always be Leo McGarry - his finest creation.
Thank you, John, and RIP.
