Bleedin' Summer Time...
Mar. 25th, 2007 11:19 amI say this every March and every October, but I wish they'd stop pissing about with the clocks!
There's usually a debate every October when someone comes up with the idea once again that we should stop doing it and just stick to BST - RoSPA has data that shows that the number of accidents in the darker evenings we have as a result of the return to GMT is greater than the number which happen in the darker mornings that we'd have if we stayed on BST. Although, they actually want us to switch to BST +1 in the summer so it would still mean changing the clocks.
I get fed up with the argument that if we don't change back, five crofters and a few sheep in the Outer Hebrides won't see daylight until 10am. I'm sorry - but is that really a valid argument for making the rest of us suffer twice a year? I agree with the MP who suggested England and Wales have a separate time-zone from Scotland and NI. Other countries manage when they have bits in different time-zones - why can't we?
And now I've managed to upset a few people - so my work here is done. :)
