30 days of TV meme

I’ve seen this one with various friends, but finally gakked it from
zinke.
What the hell, there’s a bandwagon – I might as well jump on it. I warn you now that the list is likely to be fairly repetitive because I don’t really watch a huge amount of telly these days.
Day One - A show that should never have been cancelled
This is a tricky one really, because we’ve tended to get US shows over here months, sometimes years after they’ve aired there. And that has meant I’ve been able to decide NOT to watch a show because I’ve known in advance it’s been cancelled, so there weren't many options for this one.
But I suppose the cancellation that most saddened me recently was that of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

That’s not to say that I don’t recognize that it had serious weaknesses, and that Aaron Sorkin seems to have used it as a way to grind several axes, but it had flashes of brilliance and certainly had a LOT of potential. It also suffered from the fact that the network seemed not to have a clue what to do with it or how to promote it – either that, or they deliberately set out to kill it, which I suppose is equally possible.
Either way, it's a great shame. Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford had some of the best 'buddy' chemistry I've ever seen, and if there's one thing Sorkin does well, it's male friendships. And as you'd expect of him, there was frequent inclusion of varions issues disguised as plot points. Sometimes that worked and sometimes it didn't, but in the end, the show suffered from some poor characterisation (cough *Harriet* cough) and what seemed to be a fixation on certain elements of his own life that many felt was too self-indulgent.
Anyway, we did at least get one complete season, which tied up most of the plot points, even the implausible ones!
For anyone else who wants to have a go at this, here's what's coming up:
Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching
Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)
Day 04 - Your favorite show ever

Day 08 - A show everyone should watch

Day 14 - Favorite male character
Day 15 - Favorite female character
