Yep - you're absolutely right about needing that bit more than the pretty face to really grab me.
It was Casanova that did it for me with David (I hadn't seen Blackpool at that point) - and even then it wasn't his looks especially, it was that whole "cheeky-chappie" thing he had going on. I loved the way the character was written; he could so easily have been a real sleaze-bag who used women, but he wasn't - what came across was a man who geniunely liked women. Yes, he liked having sex with them, but he liked them for who they were as well - and that's a very rare thing which completely sold it for me. And of course, he was ultimately unlucky in love and damaged and flawed and all of that as well. But it was his wit, his sense of humour and that grin and his amazing zest for life that really hooked me.
And then I noticed the legs that go all the way up to 'there'.
In the boots.
Guh.
Like you though, I think it took Ten to make me fall completely head-over-heels.
