I think it's always awkward when a parent asks one of their childless friends when they're going to have kids - especially as I think we're meant to infer that Sarah and Matt don't have kids because he doesn't want them.
What I meant about the kissing not making much sense was rather because there had been nothing so far to indicate that the two characters were attracted to each other. But people do stupid things at times of extreme stress - and I'm sure that will be remedied soon!
