The majority of my icons are fandom related, but I like to have a number of more "general" ones, especially seasonal ones.
I also like flowers and pictures of flowers rather a lot, so poinsettias was uploaded for Christmas. It's a plant that's traditionally associated with this time of year, but white ones are less common than the red. And it's pretty!
Blue baubles
is another Christmas related one. I like shiny things(!) and when I originally uploaded it, my LJ layout was blue and snowy, so the blue and silver went with that quite well. I'll be going back to that layout after Twelfth Night, probably.
Umbrellas.
I'm British and it rains a lot here! It's a seasonal icon that works for any season in this country.
Irises
I admit, I didn't get this one until after Vincent and the Doctor aired, although I can't think why I didn't have it before because I'm a huge fan of impressionist paintings and of Van Gogh. I've got various prints of his work around the house, and several years ago I made a tapestry picture of a section of that particular painting which I loved doing. Again with the love of pictures of flowers! Also - I don't make icons because I'm not talented that way, but this was just a question of finding a picture and cropping it the way I wanted, so I did that one.
Trees I've got a few of those, haven't I?
This one continues my seasonal theme, and I like the composition of the picture. I seem to remember uploading it at the time we had rather a lot of snow around here, too!
