caz, I could have gone all day without that little reminder.

I think we ought to have Christmas every five years, and really do it up; then there'd be something to look forward to. But I, like many other wives and mothers, have to do all the work while others get to sit around the kitchen table.

I LOVE Christmas! I'm looking forward to it but I'm nutty like that. There's something so magical about Christmas.And I'm looking forward to it more this year because I was sick last year and didn't get a chance to celebrate. ::prays to the gods that illness doesn't rear its ugly head::

Irish commented the other day about seeing her first Christmas advert and of course the next day I saw mine. Its starting earlier and earlier. And we haven't had Halloween yet. Used to be the madness started after Thanksgiving here. Those days are long gone.

Aaaagggghhhh...don't mention that word! I can see myself under heavy pressure this year from my mother to cook Christmas dinner for the whole family, which is about the last thing I want to do. I also have to cope with my husband's yearly honing of his impersonation of Ebenezer Scrooge to even greater peaks of perfection. I used to love Christmas...

Awwww... well part of hubby's Christmas ritual is watching Alastair Sim in "Scrooge"!
I usually do the cooking anyway, actually. Bless her, my mum has never been much of a cook (I mean she's okay, but she cooks because she has to, if you see what I mean) and if I do it, we get a decent dinner! Also, given that the kids are young and all their toys are here, it's easier to have dinner at our house - my parents only live ten minutes away, if that. The most I've cooked for for Xmas dinner so far is nine...

My hubby's role model! If I have to cook for everybody it will be for 10, and I have done it before, and it's no more difficult for 10 than it is for 4 or 6, but I don't want to be pressured into it. If it's only 59 days I need to start searching for my Christmas spirit...now!

We realised the other day that we're officially in week 4 of our first term. Halfway through. That's a quarter of the actual work we have to do for first year (third term is revision and exams). Scary stuff.

Actually, Christmas was mostly a nightmare when I was a kid and spent a week at the Grandparents'. It tends to be a lot less stressful now. But it's still overrated and overpriced. And nobody does proper carol singing any more.

I love Christmas. I adore it. I've already started shopping and really must make that Christmas pudding soon! Thanks for the reminder. :) And aside from my TWW S7 box set, what I really want for Christmas this year is S60 picked up for a full season! I wonder if Father Christmas has influence at NBC?

I love it too, don't get me wrong... it just seems to start so early! And of course, it's great when you have kids.

Hee! The thing with Christmas cake is that it needs time to mature. They're full of dried fruit and other lovely things and the longer you leave them, the better they taste. We also "feed" ours with copious amounts of brandy between now and when I put marzipan and icing on it!

You know, a group of friends and I used to go carolling - "proper" carols, four-part harmony and everything - every year (for charity). I think we kept it up for about 10 years, but of course after a while we moved away and it stopped. But I still have very fond memories of it... *sniff*

By the way, I know I disappeared on you with that fic... I think I'm just not up for it. My enthusiasm sort of fizzled out. Maybe some day I'll do it and I really appreciated your support and understanding with it! In the meantime I'll just read yours!
