Date: 2006-10-26 03:53 pm (UTC)I think we ought to have Christmas every five years, and really do it up; then there'd be something to look forward to. But I, like many other wives and mothers, have to do all the work while others get to sit around the kitchen table.
*grrrrrr...renty's tired of Christmas*
/endrentyrant, with apologies and smooches

Date: 2006-10-26 03:57 pm (UTC)But it's all vastly overrated these days. It were much better when I were a kid.

Date: 2006-10-26 04:50 pm (UTC)Irish commented the other day about seeing her first Christmas advert and of course the next day I saw mine. Its starting earlier and earlier. And we haven't had Halloween yet. Used to be the madness started after Thanksgiving here. Those days are long gone.

Date: 2006-10-26 05:15 pm (UTC)I usually do the cooking anyway, actually. Bless her, my mum has never been much of a cook (I mean she's okay, but she cooks because she has to, if you see what I mean) and if I do it, we get a decent dinner! Also, given that the kids are young and all their toys are here, it's easier to have dinner at our house - my parents only live ten minutes away, if that. The most I've cooked for for Xmas dinner so far is nine...
I couldn't believe it when I checked the countdown clock... only 59 DAYS??

Date: 2006-10-26 05:30 pm (UTC)My hubby's role model! If I have to cook for everybody it will be for 10, and I have done it before, and it's no more difficult for 10 than it is for 4 or 6, but I don't want to be pressured into it. If it's only 59 days I need to start searching for my Christmas spirit...now!

Date: 2006-10-26 05:36 pm (UTC)We realised the other day that we're officially in week 4 of our first term. Halfway through. That's a quarter of the actual work we have to do for first year (third term is revision and exams). Scary stuff.

Date: 2006-10-26 06:28 pm (UTC)Now I imagine you have this big red digital clock in your living room, just like Matt's...! ;)
I love Christmas. I adore it. I've already started shopping and really must make that Christmas pudding soon! Thanks for the reminder. :) And aside from my TWW S7 box set, what I really want for Christmas this year is S60 picked up for a full season! I wonder if Father Christmas has influence at NBC?

Date: 2006-10-26 06:54 pm (UTC)It just feels like I have!
I love it too, don't get me wrong... it just seems to start so early! And of course, it's great when you have kids.
I'll be making the pudding(s) tomorrow - Delia's Christmas gets a lot of use here!
Hm. Talking about what you really want for Christmas has sent me to my happy place... Brad wrapped up in a big red bow would suit me just fine :) (C'mon - you knew I was going to say that!!)

Wrap? Wrap? No wrap here. Don't know what you are talking about ;-)

Date: 2006-10-26 08:42 pm (UTC)I thought Prime Minister Hugh Grant and his chauffeur did it up pretty nicely in Love, Actually!
But how often do they come to my door? Not nearly often enough. Well, okay, never, but still...

Date: 2006-10-27 03:29 am (UTC)Do you put money in the puddings caz? I don't eat christmas pudding so I always missed out on the potential riches (well, a $2 coin) but I really liked the idea.

Date: 2006-10-29 06:49 am (UTC)By the way, I know I disappeared on you with that fic... I think I'm just not up for it. My enthusiasm sort of fizzled out. Maybe some day I'll do it and I really appreciated your support and understanding with it! In the meantime I'll just read yours!
