Music of the Spheres...
Jul. 27th, 2008 03:41 pmStill netless at home for god knows how long. I'm now waiting for BT to get back to Sky to tell them why they keep blocking my broadband activation.
Anyway, after a trip to the beach this morning which was just perfect, I've popped round Mum's to check my email and stuff, and remembered that there was a special Doctor Who Prom this morning. I've been listening to the first half on the iPlayer, and yes, there are some predictable music choices (Jupiter, Fanfare for the Common Man, Ride of the Valkyries), but then this is a concert aimed at kids so I guess it's as good a programme as any. There's also quite a bit of Murray Gold's music from the series there, which is surprisingly good. But the best bit is at the end of the first half, when there was a special film broadcast, featuring the man himself. I was laughing my head off here, just listening to it (it was only up at the DW website for a short time after the concert) because Tennant's "interaction" with the audience is very funny. The video is up at YouTube - but listen to the audio as well, because the audience reactions aren't on the video.
The Prom has been recorded for broadcast on BBC1 - not sure of the transmission date yet;I think I read 1st August somewhere. Look out for the dancing Cybermen!
