The good and the not so good...

No, I'm not overly impressed with the casting news for the next series of Doctor Who.
In fact, I said here that while I had no problems with Matt Smith per se, it did make me wonder if his being a very young doctor would mean that we were in for a slew of pre-pubescent companions. (And yes, I know that he's had young companions before, but he's had older ones, too - yet we've not had any older ones in new Who so far, unless you count Catherine Tate - which I don't).
Also, WTF, Moff?
A generation of little girls will want to be her. And a generation of little boys will want them to be her too.'
Eeew.
So instead, I'll concentrate on the happier news that David Tennant is going to film Hamlet for BBC 2, and that the whole cast of the Stratford production is also on board - which included Patrick Stewart as Claudius.
Now, there's news that deserves a self-satisfied "whoop!".
