I said in my last rec post that I’d probably forgotten to include some stuff, and of course I had! In my defence, some of it was fic I’d intended to include, but just forgot to write down!
I realised a while back that I hadn’t rec’d any fics by emily’s list, which is a dreadful oversight! Her Trying to Fight Gravity series is really good – very angsty and romantic and smutty! There are three parts to the series so far, but there’s a fourth on the way. Each story is self-contained though, so you can read the existing three quite safely!
I also like Between the Sheets - Josh and Donna have an innuendo filled conversation at the Inaugural Ball.
Michelle is also really good – Donna has just joined the Bartlet for America campaign, and Josh is musing on the last time he ‘liked’ a blonde… and why he tends to avoid getting involved with them now.

I meant to include this fic Memories and Dreams by Arianne on the list of “traumafic” in my last post - although it’s not really a traumafic in the same sense. In it, Josh has an accident and loses his memory (yes!) – so the whole suspension of disbelief thing comes into play, BUT it’s generally quite well written, and funny. What this conceit allows the writer to do, though, is to present Josh without all his hang ups and insecurities – because he can’t remember them! - and to show the big softie we all know he is underneath! I like the way he just assumes he’s married to Donna when she comes to get him from the hospital – because he’s finally able to see what everyone else has been able to see for years about the way they behave towards each other. Arianne’s a fairly new writer to the fandom, who only posts over at the JDFF list, I think, so the link is to the first part of the fic, and the other message numbers are: #21246, #21249, #21248, #21247, #21254, #21250, #21257, #21255, #21252, #21251, #21253 and #21256. (I know the numbers are out of sequence, but it’s the right order for the chapters!)
Her other fic is worth a read, too - Sententia (set S3) is a bit angsty – Josh tries to figure out who is “the other woman” in his life, and Lightning in a Desert Storm is funny and a bit silly (Donna makes a bet with FLOTUS that she can get Josh to pay more attention to his health), but again, quite well written. The writer says she was inspired by THOSE pics of Brad without his shirt (or much else!) on – you know the ones I mean! – so I for one, can completely understand her! (Because they’re really quite… inspirational photos!) Iris is really sweet, too.

Dianora quite rightly rapped my knuckles *g* because I forgot her traumafic! (otherwise known as Apocasmut!) *hangs head in shame*! Actually, I had fully intended to include it, but I was probably distracted by reading some of her other smut (again!) and forgot to get the links! So here they are – Devastating Velocity, Fading Hope and Abiding Wasteland. Definitely not happy smut!
Also in the “apocasmut” category – [livejournal.com profile] smut_queen wrote some - here, here, here and here. Plenty of sex and angst; the character voices are pretty good, though.
This one isn’t really a traumafic as such, although Donna is involved in an accident towards the end - The Art of Stoicism by Inci, which as far as I know, was only posted over at JDFF. It’s very angsty, and although she stops short of the actual smut, quite hot nonetheless. It starts after The Al Smith Dinner as Donna lays down some ‘rules’ about their new working relationship. The link is to the first chapter (of 6) – the message numbers for the rest are #20879, #20902, #20905, #20916 and #20925
We Were Always Us starts after The Wedding and is again very angsty and well written. Back in the early days, Donna and Sam had an affair which Josh never found out about… there are a few problems with the timeline with this fic, but it’s worth a look nonetheless. Again, as far as I know, it’s only at JDFF – the link is to the first chapter, and the other message numbers are: #20969, #20999, #21045, #21084, #21121.
And for the funny – Sally’s Nervous, Pathetic, Tongue-Tied - Josh finally has the guts to ask Donna on a date… which of course, doesn’t go quite as planned.

Another writer I haven’t mentioned yet is Liza C. I have similar reservations about her work as I have about Jen’s – but she generally writes well, and can bring the funny. I was looking through her site to see if there was anything there I wanted to recommend, and remembered that I quite like Fifty-Fifty, wherein Donna accepts her share of the blame for the breakdown of her relationship with Josh in S6, and Wild Monkey Love, a post ep for Running Mates. (Or it might be the fact that Josh is naked in bed for a lot of that fic which is colouring my judgement!…*g*)

If you haven’t read coffeeplease’s two fantastic post-eps for Impact Winter, then you must do so immediately - She’ll Be Back Tomorrow is Josh’s POV and It’s My Life is Donna’s – angry, angsty and fabulous.

It’s Sunday afternoon, and I’m in the mood for some undemanding fluff, so here are three fics which were written as challenge responses. I don’t have the original challenge, but they were for fluff, fairy tales and Halloween parties, I think. They’re romantic, fluffy and (in the case of the last one) smutty, too!
Donnatella – a Fairy Tale, by Christine in which our very own Cinders gets to go to the ball and hook her Prince; Fete Accompli, by Marguerite in which Josh is terribly clumsy, but still gets the girl; and Masquerade by Carrie.
And speaking of smut, I dug out some links for [livejournal.com profile] rentypoo the other day, and we had a little conversation about how sometimes, threesomes can seem a bit… “impersonal”, and that even though we’re talking about smut, the best ones nonetheless manage to show an emotional connection between the characters (like Dia’s and Speranza’s). Well, I came across this one by the fabulous Pix (yay!)at SOTU Better Sorry Than Safe. It’s J/D/S and although there is some reference to what “went on”, most of the fic is about how they deal with it afterwards. Part Two is here.

[livejournal.com profile] hockeyvaughnfan asked for Josh angst post We Killed Yamamoto or A Change is Gonna Come. Here’s one for the latter by kHo-Timing - in fact, nearly all her stuff is set during S6, so the majority of it is pretty angsty. I’ve already mentioned this one, but it’s so good it bears mentioning again - Like Zeppelin in a Four Star Restaurant which is Josh and Leo, after the events on the campaign shown in Bartlet for America and this one - Five Conversations is (as it says) five different conversations that could have taken place between Josh and Toby – they’re fabulous. And whilst I was going through her site, I re-read these fics - Getting to Know You - Helen tries to get to know their campaign manager a bit better, Poker Face - Josh and Santos talk (sort of) about Donna, and the sequel, Non-Conventionally Romantic which is Josh and Helen talking about Donna. All her stuff is really, really good – have a poke around at her site!
Whilst not a post-ep for either of these, but certainly delivering of the angsty Josh is Chai’s Enigma Variations. Her Rain is excellent too, giving us a glimpse back into Josh’s childhood.
Gratitude by Christine is a post ep for We Killed Yamamoto, and here’s a not-so-angsty JD one, by prettypretty Seeking Contentment.
Finally, a couple more that [livejournal.com profile] christinekh jogged my memory about - Plays with Questions and Perseverance, both by Em Meredith.

I'm putting all these rec posts into my memories and keeping them public so you should be able to find them all next time you want to track down something to read. At some point, I'll get around to making a BIG LIST of all the authors' sites with links (if that's OK with the authors out there?).

OK then... have fun! (Let me know if any of the links don't work!)

Dude, I was totally kidding about including my stuff! Heeeeeeee. Fic about an asteroid hitting the earth should not be on a serious rec list for angst fic. LOL. But you are sweet, thank you. :D And thanks for digging out [livejournal.com profile] smut_queen's apocafic, I'd been wanting to reread those.

And [livejournal.com profile] emilys_list is one of the best JD writers out there. I wish she wrote more.

Dude, I was totally kidding about including my stuff! Heh! I know you were, but I really did mean to mention it before and, you know, got distracted by ... something else of yours, probably! And I hope people aren't taking the trauma/angst fic too seriously, cos, really... ;)

Gwah, your rec lists rock. There can be such BAD J/D fic out there, which makes me so sad because it's my OTP and I hate to see those two butchered in the way that they sometimes are. But the stuff you've recommended is excellent, thanks for taking all the time to do it!

And, I was wondering, do you by any chance have any post-Rosslyn and (preferably) post-Gaza fics? Because I know a lot of them have been written, but since so many people have issues with the gaza arc, it's been hard to find some really, really good ones. :)

Thank you! And sure, I'll have a think and come up with some post Gaza and post Rosslyn fics for you - if you have the time to go through my other posts, I've rec'd some already. There's "Losing Control" by [livejournal.com profile] christinekh, "After Gaza" by Speranza, "Changes" and quite a few others by Dianora, "Every Goldfish Deserves a Funeral", by kHo - all of these are linked in my posts somewhere, if you can bear to trawl through them all - they're all in my memories and are public so you should be able to see them.
What sort of fic do you want? Stuff that deals with the fallout? With or without teh sex? *g*
Jo and Ryo's "A Winning Strategy" series is set immediately after Rosslyn, starting with Josh's recovery, but maybe that's different to the sort of fic you want? Anyway, I'll see what I can do!

Oh, whee, thanks! I guess I've been looking for tense/worried Josh, fragile/unstable Donna, and teh sex is not a necessary (but certainly an appreciated!) component. I guess stuff that deals with the actual events of Gaza more than with Donna's quitting, if that makes any sense.

Ooh, you are my new favorite person ever for doing this! :)

Just wanted to say thanks for all the time you've put into the fic recs. I've discovered so many new authors and old favorites thanks to you. The fic is certainly helping me during the mourning process of my beloved OTP.

You're very welcome - I'm just glad people are finding them... valuable! This all started out as one or two posts to remind MYSELF of my favourite fic, and where to find it, and it kinda snowballed from there! Believe it or not, I have another one in the works!

You're very welcome! It all started out with me making a list of favourite (and good!) fic to re-read when there wasn't a lot of new stuff coming out... and it snowballed from there!
