Yes, I know this is out of the running order, but we’ve got two different channels here showing repeats of the second series of Doctor Who ! I didn’t get to watch Tooth and Claw when it was on last week, but I caught it last night instead.
I haven’t got much to say – I’m tired for one thing, and for another, the amount of sheer gorgeousness on display melted my brain, so all I’m going to do is spam you with some of that.
Points to note. Pauline Collins was awesome. Her Queen Vic was just right – intelligent, a little bit playful and icily regal when required.
Special mention – Ian Drury and the Blockheads FTW! (Reminds me that I haven’t seen the Drury biopic – another one to add to the list). Hit me with your Rhythm Stick playing as the Doctor belts bits of the TARDIS console with a mallet. Not subtle, but funny nonetheless.

Wherever they are, it’s bloody windy!

I, however, am transfixed by the freckles.
Also, that is definitely NOT DT’s natural accent. To my ear, the one he’s using is closer to an Edinburgh one – which would make sense given the mention of Edinburgh at that point in the script. (Also, I spent best part of 3 hours listening to him on the radio yesterday morning, so I’d heard him as “himself” pretty recently.)

There’s probably something important going on here, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. And the more I look at that cap, the less I care…
Her Maj ponders those we have lost.
….that's the charm of a ghost story, isn't it? Not the scares and chills, that's just for children, but the... hope of some contact with the great beyond. We all want some message from that place... it's the Creator's greatest mystery that we are allowed no such consolation. The dead stay silent. And we must wait.

Another of the (many) things I adore about the Tennant is his ability to speak volumes without saying a word. (Rather like another favourite actor of mine).

A werewolf! Yay! He may as well have jumped out of his seat and done a jig!

At over 900 years old, and with all the crap that life’s thrown at him, you’d have thought our hero would have seen it all. Yet he’s still like a kid at Christmas when confronted with something new. Reason #678623 why the Doctor is awesome.

These caps illustrate why DT is awesome ;-)

Chin dimple and pout.

And out come the sexy!brainy!specs. Known to kill fangirls at fifty paces, I'm not sure whether they have the same effect on werewolves.

Books are good, kids!

Are there any fangirls left standing at this point?

How about now? I don’t think he’s done the looking over the top of the glasses thing a lot since – if at all. Clearly, he was told not to when the producers realized that they were close to losing half the show’s audience due to spontaneous combustion.

Neck.

Sir Robert is going to sacrifice himself to give the Doctor time to get the not-telescope-thingy working. All I can think about is how effing gorgeous DT looks in that shot.

And that one.

Aaaaand that one.

How did that get in there?! Okay, I know it’s not a picture of David Tennant, but I love the composition and the colours.

In one of his lovely displays of sensitivity - (oh yes, he can do it when he wants to!)
I think your husband cut that diamond to save your life. He's protecting you even now Ma'am, even from beyond the grave.

Knighted and banished on the same day. That’s got to be some sort of record, even for the Doctor!
While we all know that he's isn't the enemy, I suppose it could look that way to someone whose only experience of him has been as a bloke who seems to actually enjoy getting into all sorts of trouble. Which, of course, he is. And it's quite refreshing to see someone who doesn't fall completely under his spell. I mean, most of the time, when the Doctor interacts with "regular" people and saves their asses, there's normally some sort of awe on their part - he is rather impressive, after all. But not here. So while on the one hand I'm thinking "ouch!", on the other, I'm not surprised at Her Maj's reaction.
This is Ten at his rude and not-ginger-ish best - having fun and being (for the most part) wildly insensitive.
I still luff him tho'!

Date: 2010-08-29 08:15 pm (UTC)I know! It's a truth, universally acknowledged.
If you're interested, I wrote a post a while back explaining some of my reasons for not being all that fond of Rose (http://caz963.livejournal.com/345407.html) - it's not rude or nasty, just me working through stuff.
Donna's my girl :-)
