Oh, Murray Gold - you know I love you.

But WHAT THE FUCK did you do to the theme music??!!

The rest of it - lovely. But that has to be the ONLY time I've been grateful when the continuity announcer has spoken all over the closing credits.

I know I read an article where he said he'd reworked it SLIGHTLY - but that? Was a travesty.

Only bit that wasn't perfect though!

Yeah, the rest of it was excellent. But the theme and credits .were a real disappointment.

i just saw the credits on YouTube, still haven't managed to download the entire episode of course, and am also flummoxed. Hardly any of the actual theme actually there, bells (!?!), and i'm not sure why the time vortex suddenly looks like clouds and then flames. i'm upset that it's going to be hours until i can watch the episode and wasn't expecting them to destroy the credits (though the new logo is win).

The episode is great and Matt is excellent. I have to confess, I never warmed to the new logo, but then it's not all that important if the rest works. But for me (as a musician and a Who fan) the music has been one of the most important parts of the show, and that was a HUGE let down,

i'm also super aware of music when i'm watching something, so i am waiting to see how the music has changed. i hated Martha's theme, but love most of the music of the series and specials.

There was some great music running throughout the episode which had definite echoes of things we've heard before - which isn't surprising given it's the same composer, and which I think is quite right. To be honest, I spent most of the 40 seconds or so of the theme playing at the start howling with my hands over my ears, but I'm going to try to rewatch it later on and see if I can bear to listen to it,

Film and TV music is one of my 'things', someting I've been interested in since my teens, and in my previous job I was fortunate to have worked with some pretty big names in the film music world. The title sequence was crappy, too.

Yes, I loved the rest of it and thought Matt Smith was excellent, but the theme music was just wrong. Odd because the music for the episode itself was fine.

Yeah, there was some really good stuff in the score which was new while still referring back to past seasons, which is a nice link. What on earth Murray Gold and/or the Moff were on when they decided the new theme was a good idea though, I dare not try to imagine!

Oh dear... I feel completely out of step here... I thought the episode as a whole was absolutely terrible with only a few redeeming factors! The new theme was kiddie toytown electronics - what were they thinking?! Gloomy now...

I thought it was good overall, apart from the new title sequence and theme. I've just posted a few more thoughts; I had family over this evening so have had to wait to be able to post more than a few lines!

I started to write out my thoughts but I got side-tracked so I'll do it tomorrow now... yawn... I'll be interested to read what you thought though. Most of the comments I've read elsewhere have been glowing so I think I'm in the minority! ;D Ah well...

I caught the first of the new episodes (The Beast Below) last night and when I heard the theme omg I'd was glad I'd had the heads up from you! WTF has he done? You don't change a theme like that every series - it was quite a few secons in before I ever recognised any Dr Who-ness. Bah!

I'll have to come back and read all your posts once I've seen the last Ten episode and the first of Eleven. I do like Eleven more than I thought I would (wasn't a fan of the casting originally)

Haven't you seen The Eleventh Hour yet? (The series opener?) It's really good - and I felt that TBB fell rather flat after that.

But yes, please do read and come back and tell me what you think. Matt Smith's no David Tennant, that's for sure, but he's doing okay so far.
