Misery is expected to peak on Monday, as 24 January has been pinpointed as the worst day of the year. according to the news last week.
Just tomorrow? ALL my Mondays are like that :(
There should be something in that article about the misery of having to face four year 9 classes on the trot.

Date: 2011-01-23 10:25 pm (UTC)Thing is - I kmow I moan about my job, but basically I enjoy it. There is, however, so much crap that goes along with it these days, and other "stuff" that goes on (or that should and doesn't) that makes it very stressful. Unlike in the US, kids don't have to "pass" every subject each year, so there's no incentive for them to put in any effort if they don't want to. In a month or so, the year 9s (13-14 year olds) will choose which subjects they want to study for GCSE, and many of them just stop trying in those subjects they're not carrying on with. Add to that the fact that the school will be "under new management" from 1st March, and it's not a particularly pleasant environment at the moment. The one thing that makes it bearable is the people I work with who are a really great bunch.
I just hope I get a better timetable next year!

Date: 2011-01-23 11:10 pm (UTC)On another note: I think I remember you saying somewhere that you're a musician? I wrote a bunch of entries last summer about music and Murray Gold's music (The Music and Language, Music, Rhythm, Time and Music). I have listened to the Ten as Hamlet vid so many times over the past ten months (last spring I was listening to it at least 10 times every day, and now I listen to it at least a few times a week) - and I still can't get over how beautifully the words and music combine, how perfect the timing is. (I've also listened to "The Doctor's Theme" on the S4 soundtrack CD hundreds of times.)

Date: 2011-01-23 10:29 pm (UTC)What makes it even harder is that I have to teach two subjects at opposite ends of the school with no break in between. And I have to do that TWICE - I do French then Music and then after break I do Music then French. It's crap organisation which means that I'm always late for the second lesson in each set. I have no set up time and I can't leave the kids hanging around in the corridor any longer while I sort myself out. So I lose about the first ten minutes in travelling and setting up and then I have to try to get them to shut up and listen. I'm fighting a losing battle. I'm just glad it's at the start of the week so I can get it over with. But I wake up every Monday thinking about calling in sick.

Date: 2011-01-23 10:47 pm (UTC)I think you should do more Boomtown Rats songs in your Monday lessons. Or go all Bob on them and tell them to STFU!
*hugs* for tomorrow.
