I told myself that I wasn't going to get too involved in all the spoilery speculation about Doctor Who this year. Last year there was all the stuff about Jacket!Doctor, the identity of the baddie, who - really - is River? - and countless other threads which, while fun, also made my head ache.

Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed taking part in all those discussions and then starting some of my own, but it did get pretty time-consuming and I told myself that while I wouldn't shun spoilers entirely, I wouldn't actively seek them out. (Not that I was really seeking them out before, but they do become rather impossible to avoid!)

But today, the Beeb issued a new, one minute trailer - here at the DW site - and my resolve is cracking! Because - bloody hell.

Now I just hope that S6/6.5 lives up to the hype. And I'm also feeling more aggrieved than I have been over the fact that the series is being split into two :(

My favourite bit: the exchange with the off-screen baddie.

Baddie: Fear me. I've killed hundreds of Time Lords.

The Doctor: Fear me. I've killed all of them.

And - THE OLD TARDIS!!! (or something that looks very like it!)



On another subject - I believe normal userpic service will be resumed as soon as possible :(

Earthgirl watched some trailers, i guess i need to catch up. Incidentally, i know that the old Tardis console room is still up as of last series because they showed it several times in the special features. I think they put the new console room where the Hub was and have been using the coral one to lay around in, eating and the like.

I read somewhere a while back that the old TARDIS set hadn't been struck when filming on the specials finished, but nobody knew why. I then thought that perhaps it was because it was going to be transported to the DW Experience in London. I assume that's part of the original set there now - unless they've built a replica, although that would rather defeat the object, wouldn't it?

The new trailer is pretty gobsmackikng. Here's hoping S6 lives up to the hype.

It does. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, but things like that trailer make me forget how much I dislike Amy and how deflated I felt after some episodes last year.

But the inclusion of that line about the Time Lords ... squee!

And the old TARDIS!!!!! Well, it might not be I suppose, because that's clearly Amy and Rory looking on, but still... it could be wibbly-wpbbly shenanigans or something else related to... something else that I won't say because I don't know how spoiled you are/want to be :)

I saw an LJ note about the DDoS attacks. Hopefully, they'll be able to get things sorted soon.

Well, given that Craig from The Lodger is back, maybe we're going to find out who was trying to build that TARDIS in "the attic" - and perhaps it was that one going up in flames.

Although the one we saw in that episode looked nothing like the old coral one, and there are definitely coral struts in that shot, and that's definitely the old console. But I'm trying not to get too excited by telling myself it's probably not the old TARDIS at all. :P

It really does look like an exciting and very dark season. And I love a darker side for the Doctor, too. I'm trying not to angst over who Amy might shoot, (Rory? Aaack!) and yes that definitely looks like Nine or Ten's TARDIS console so maybe someone's regen. is what cracked the Universe??

I was underwhelmed with the writing last season, but I'm getting excited about this too!

I definitely don't object to a darker side too - and the fact that we know it's targeted at the family audience means that we know it can't get too depressing. DW is one of the few shows where you can look forward to it getting a bit deep while knowing that everything will turn out in the end!

I've not really been thinking much about who Amy shoots - I'm too busy squeeing over Old! TARDIS!!

Maybe we'll find out what happened to The Coat. :P Because clearly, that's far more important than someone getting shot!

It is tough to not look at the spoilers and trailers! And even tougher not to speculate once you do. The trailer looks great and there are so many interesting bits in it. It has done it's job -- I'm officially excited about the new season. :D
