caz963: (Much Ado 3)

Yesterday was humid and rather overcast, but in any case, I headed off to London to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] canterlevi to join her on the first stage of her "operation Fangirl" (!) trip. We nattered a fair bit (surprising, I know!) and then traipsed around Tate Modern, where I duly took the piss out of several installations and pieces of so-called sculpture. I'm such a philistine, but really, what else do you call a piece of "art" that is essentially an irregular octagonal piece of white paper stuck onto a pale grey wall other than I'm sorry - you've missed a bit?!

I tend to prefer paintings.

After that it was food, more nattering and then heading off for the fangirling part of the expedition at Wyndham's. I'll post a more considered review of the play and the serious stuff later, but I can't let today go any further without making the following completely unobjective observations about David Tennant:

  • The man lights up the stage in a way very few actors can. (IMO)

  • He's having a blast and isn't afraid to show it.

  • He has impeccable comic timing - not that that's news to many of us, but if anyone needed to be convinced, this is the thing that'll do it.

  • For a skinny sod he has a great pair of legs on 'im!

  • Ditto about his arse. But then I've said that before. Lots of times.

  • He can wear those denim cut-offs all the time and he'll get no complaints from me whatsoever. Did I not mention the thighs?

  • I wouldn't object to the dress whites with the sword, either. (*Insert jokes about David Tennant's sword here!*)

  • Someone - probably a woman - should tip him the wink about how to sit down when wearing a mini-skirt. i.e, not with your legs wide open!! (Um, yeah... do I really mean that one?!)

  • He is a gorgeous, gorgeous man. Again, this is not news. But I think it's something that certainly bears repetition.

    More later.

Ah okay! Oooh Music! I've got a bit of a personal music background myself, although I'm not actually qualified to teach music as such (although that doesn't mean I haven't). I looked into some jobs in Ipswich before I came over and it looked like a lovely place.

LOLOLOL OMG. I actually used to LIVE in Chingford - right near Chingford Mount. I work in South Woodford right now and I currently live near Manor House/Finsbury Park (I moved about a month and a half ago). What a small world!

Blimey! I lived a walk away from Chingford Mount from the time I was about 18 and my parents were there until about 15 years ago.

Ipswich is... well, like most places, it has it's nice bits and it's not so nice bits. Unfortunately, the school I'm at is in the latter; it's quite a deprived area so it's a tough school.

Wow, okay SUPER small world. How crazy is that?

I haven't been to Ipswich but I did do some research into it when I was considering a job there. Tough schools can be rewarding but they're also incredibly stressful. Are you finished for the year soon at least?

It IS incredibly stressful, absolutely. Term ends for me on 22nd July, so just under 4 weeks left, and I'm already completely knackered!

Yeah sounds stressful. You must be exhausted. Hopefully it will go by fast!
