caz963: (Much Ado 3)

Yesterday was humid and rather overcast, but in any case, I headed off to London to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] canterlevi to join her on the first stage of her "operation Fangirl" (!) trip. We nattered a fair bit (surprising, I know!) and then traipsed around Tate Modern, where I duly took the piss out of several installations and pieces of so-called sculpture. I'm such a philistine, but really, what else do you call a piece of "art" that is essentially an irregular octagonal piece of white paper stuck onto a pale grey wall other than I'm sorry - you've missed a bit?!

I tend to prefer paintings.

After that it was food, more nattering and then heading off for the fangirling part of the expedition at Wyndham's. I'll post a more considered review of the play and the serious stuff later, but I can't let today go any further without making the following completely unobjective observations about David Tennant:

  • The man lights up the stage in a way very few actors can. (IMO)

  • He's having a blast and isn't afraid to show it.

  • He has impeccable comic timing - not that that's news to many of us, but if anyone needed to be convinced, this is the thing that'll do it.

  • For a skinny sod he has a great pair of legs on 'im!

  • Ditto about his arse. But then I've said that before. Lots of times.

  • He can wear those denim cut-offs all the time and he'll get no complaints from me whatsoever. Did I not mention the thighs?

  • I wouldn't object to the dress whites with the sword, either. (*Insert jokes about David Tennant's sword here!*)

  • Someone - probably a woman - should tip him the wink about how to sit down when wearing a mini-skirt. i.e, not with your legs wide open!! (Um, yeah... do I really mean that one?!)

  • He is a gorgeous, gorgeous man. Again, this is not news. But I think it's something that certainly bears repetition.

    More later.

Maybe we should start a petition and send it to Wyndhams.

I would sign that petition! To be honest what I really want is for it to come to NYC. I don't think there's much chance of it but I would have tickets in hand 5 minutes after the announcement.

I did read your longer review but it's hard to have anything to say to it without sounding terribly envious. Your description of the chair scene alone is enough to make me green.
