In the absence of anything much to watch on the telly (the few shows I've been watching have all finished for the summer and Studio 60 doesn't start here for a couple of weeks), I've found myself turning to the radio a bit more...

The Now Show really should be required listening for anyone with a sense of humour and a brain - last week's item featuring Chewbacca singing Nessun Dorma made me laugh so much it hurt. I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue is still hilarious and I'm really enjoying the afternoon series on The Making of Music, which I usually manage to catch on the drive home from school. That's followed by an hour of music over on Radio 3 by the composers featured in the programme. Makes me realise how little I listen to these days and how much I miss it. *goes to dig out some CDs*

Oh - and I know that many of you aren't reading any Studio 60 fic (and with good reason - most of it's crap) - but here's a good one - Jumping out of Windows by [livejournal.com profile] imperviousness. I beta'ed it, but I'm not biased :)

Could you rec any other good S60 fanfic that's out there? That'd be awesome. Off to check out your rec now...

Sure. If you check out my fic-recs page (http://caz963.livejournal.com/46690.html) there are some listed in the more recent entries there. To be honest there's not a lot of really good S60 fic, but I think I've picked up what there is.

And I wrote a couple - here (http://caz963.livejournal.com/74198.html) and here (http://caz963.livejournal.com/79527.html).
I'm working on a little something else which I hope to finish soon.

Yay for Good!fic, something in very short supply in the S60 fandom.

I've been keeping the TV off myself, though I've gone the DVD route rather than to the radio. I'm finally watching Sports Night which has been a pleasantly amusing surprise.

I've got piles of DVDs lying around - including SN which I've had for ages and haven't gotten around to (I've watched half of S1 so far.) There's one new programme I'm going to watch - Dexter started here last week which was quite good, and I'll watch S60 when it starts airing - Mr Caz hasn't seen it yet (that's my excuse!), but other than that... summer has traditionally been the time for repeats! I do like the radio, and with the fact that you can listen on line or those programmes I mentioned are online for a week after they're broadcast, makes it easier to catch up.

I love R4 for comedy, but rarely listen at home. I usually only have the radio on while I'm in the car or asleep (Toady and Today in Parliament/midnight news). The Now Show and The News Quiz should be required listening for all secondary school pupils. ISIHAC is far too advanced for them, unless they have already shown an aptitude for Mornington Crescent.

Ma & I have spent the evening enjoying the FNoTP. I was thinking earlier, while I was picking the raspberries, what a shame it was she doesn't live in Lunnon any more. In the interval she said "This is the one thing I miss about living in Walthamstow".

I don't know what I miss about living in Walthamstow! Not a lot, I suspect. I became more of a "North Londoner" once I moved up there.

I'm like you, I rarely listen to the radio at home, it's mostly in the car, and next year because I'll be driving less (a good thing!) I won't listen so much, so thank god for "listen again" at the BBC!

Seriously, ISIHAC from last week had me doubled up almost in pain with the "IT film club."!

Chewbacca Nessun Dorma

Is there anyway you can send me an MP3 copy of Chewbacca singing Nessun Dorma? Or let me know how I could get the CD? I am dying to hear it!!! Thank you!
