This all started out because I made myself a list of the fic I like to read when there's not a lot new being posted. So I made a list... then thought I might as well share ... and the whole fic reccing monster was born!
Some of these contain links to files I uploaded which will by now have expired. You can always e-mail me if there's anything you'd like and I'll try to help.

Each post contains a variety of fic - some of them were in response to requests for me to find certain stories, which are indicated with the link.

I don't know if you will even see this but if you do the links to Bex's stories within the fanfic recommendations in the above post don't work because she has since moved all of her stories onto a new server.

Yeah, I know Bex has moved her stuff; I've changed the link on the "link to authors sites" post and on the link on my main LJ page, but I haven't had time to go back and link individual fics, I'm afraid.

hey there. i am new to ww fanfic, but not new to fanfic and certainly not new to ww. anyways, where can i find all this post-"inauguration:over there" fic? i have been finding most of the fic i read from the national library and then following the author to their site if i like their work, but i havn't found a reliable way to search for fic by episode.....i always feel it should be included as a LJ tag, but no one seems to want to listen to me :) anyways, any help you could give me would be by me appreciated :)

Hm. Yes, searching at TNL by episode is always a bit hit and miss - it depends on whether the author has tagged their story or not.

I think I've linked to the best of the I:OT fics in various posts - off the top of my head, you want to check out those by Dianora, Macha and Lordessrenegade - all of whom are listed at my "author's sites" page. Over at josh_and_donna, I started to tag fic by Season, but it's only newer posts that I've done.

Were you looking for anything in particular? Let me know and I'll see what I can find for you.

Oh man. Today, you are my hero! I'm new to The West Wing (currently on S2!) but I couldn't wait any longer to look for fic. I've been gingerly picking through the posts, mostly the oldies, and so far it's all been great stuff! Your recs just may have saved my sanity.

Oh, you're most welcome! I'm glad that people are still finding these lists useful :-) There really is such a lot of truly crappy fic out there in this fandom, I couldn't stand it any more and had to make lists of the good stuff! Sadly, I haven't had time to make a new one since January (eek!) but I was thinking I might get around to an end of year round-up, so watch this space.

I just want to say thank you. I've recently just gotten into the West Wing Fandom, I finished the entire series in just under 2 months, and I must say that finding good, well written, half decent fanfics are hard. Especially considering thats it's been 3 years since the series ended.

But through some glorious twist of fate I managed to stumble across this a few weeks ago and I've been devouring your recs ever since. Thank you so much for doing all these recs lists, I've find some excellent ones in there. I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know. Thank you again for compiling all the links and stuff, I really, really appreciate it. :)

Thanks for commenting - it's nice to know that people are still finding their way into the fandom and that this list is useful. I admit that some of the links are out of date now, so do let me know if you find any that don't work and I'll try to fix them.

A few of them the links were broken, but those were places were the servers were hosted by a private domain so it wasn't that big of a deal.

Hi Caz,

I got back into west wing last November (stopped when Sorkin left... and was inspired to start a rewatch November 5th when "Santos" won the election! I'm now on my 2nd rewatch- once through wasn't enough!)

I started looking for fanfic around February time and around April or so i came upon your rec site. I have read almost everything that you have rec'd so far. I've loved about 95% of it- you do an amazing job rec'ing.

I wanted to thank you for putting so much amazing fic in one place- I never would have known where to begin looking for it. Your fic and the fics that you've rec'ed have kept me entertained for countless hours.

I had an idea for a fic that i would love to read and was wondering if you knew if anyone had written something along the lines of what i have in mind- or if you would be interested in writing it-or might know someone who would be. The idea is a fic from Cliff's pov while he is reading Donna's diary- focusing heavily on what Donna wrote- her evolving feelings for Josh, thoughts on her experiences throughout the campaign and diff events throughout the first few years in office, Josh's ptsd and how she might have felt leading up to his being diagnosed and afterward, obviously Rosslyn, and also on having left the campaign and returning to it with the story of dr. freeride etc etc... but with some musings from Cliff along the line... i'm looking for something that really true to donna's voice and that stays within cannon (no shocking findings that josh and donna had some one night stand during the first campaign) and is true to what someone would write about in a diary- not as much about whats going but more on feelings and others feelings etc...

anyways was wondering if you know of anything along those lines.

Hm. Off the top of my head, I don't know of anything along those lines. There are a couple of decent fics based around Cliff reading the diary, but if I ever came across anything that's as detailed as you describe, I've forgotten it. And if I've forgotten it, it means I didn't think it was worth remembering.

Thing is, to write something you describe, the writer would have to invent so much - one of the reasons I wouldn't attempt it is because - believe it or not - I do like to base as much as I can in my fics on things that we actually KNOW (or can reasonably assume) from the show. Okay, so I take a lot of liberties in some cases, but I think that if you're going to stay true to the characters, you do need to steer clear of making up too much background. If that makes any sense whatsoever.

Also - remember, Josh only gave Cliff an hour to read the diary, so I doubt he'd have been able to read it in that much detail anyway!

Anyway, I'm really glad you've enjoyed the fics I have written, and that the recommendations have been useful - thanks for letting me know :-)

So, I love this recs post, and I frequented it as a lurker long before I ever signed up for my own LJ or considered myself fannish. Thanks for taking the time to create all these lists, and for leaving this post open and public after you locked down your journal. (And I was briefly terrified when I couldn't access your own fic page, but then I saw that you have a separate, public fic journal and was much relieved!)

So I've been on kind of a J/D kick recently, inspired by a friend who is watching the show for the first time and who is a newbie J/D shipper(!) Anyway, I can't find Pix's stuff on the wayback machine anymore, and was wondering if you would be willing to send me any of her stuff that you have. I am trying to access the Crossroads Fic webpage but it seems to have disappeared recently. Shame, because that was the only way I had found to access Dianora's lovely fic! Any tips for me? You two are my favourite writers and I'd hate to lose access to your stuff.

I just wanted to leave a comment to say thank you. Seriously, THANK YOU. I'm very new to the WW fandom, so your Josh and Donna community + this extremely helpful post are SO appreciated. I was a tad overwhelmed looking at certain fanfiction sites, not really knowing where to start. BUT your recs have lead me to some incredibly well-written and enjoyable stories. It makes such a big difference, imo. SO, again, THANK YOU.

I couldn't help but notice a few of these posts are locked. I'm not sure if that's for privacy reasons or you forgot to unlock them? Anyway, I know commenting here after so many years must seem strange but not thanking you seemed rude. Especially when your recs are basically everything to me at the moment. :)

I thought I'd unlocked all the posts now - I had to go F.O a while back and did a "mass" edit, which of course locked everything, so it's more than likely me forgetting to unlock them. I'm sorry about that - do you think you could let me know which posts you're trying to look at?
